Jerry Allen Oosterhous, 67, of Fairplay MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his home.

Born November 7, 1942, in Takoma Park, MD, he was the son of the late Lawrence Alfred Oosterhous and the late Lucille Jeanette Schwartz Oosterhous.

A graduate of High Point High School and the University of Maryland, Jerry enjoyed a long career with Bell Atlantic, then founded the yacht brokerage, Severn Yacht Sales. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed being outdoors and sailing the Double "OO" on the Chesapeake Bay.

He is survived by Carolyn Simonsen of Fairplay, MD; two daughters, Karen Oosterhous of Pittsburgh, PA, and Christy Usher of Montara, CA; two sons, Adam Simonsen of Waterbury, CT, and Michael Simonsen of Baltimore, MD; sister, Nancy Powell of Silver Spring, MD; brother, Jim Oosterhous of Naples, FL; four grandsons, James Oosterhous, William Simonsen, Stanley Simonsen, Dane Simonsen; and many other family members and life long friends.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2010.
