Mary Bell Claybon, 91, of Hagerstown MD, passed away, Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Tuesday, September 3, 1918, in Buckingham County, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Hudgins and the late Eliza Wright Hudgins. Her husband, Rev. William Claybon preceded her in death.

She was a former member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and also attended Second Christian Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and NAACP. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She is survived by five daughters, Barbara A. Latney of Randallstown, MD, Betty J. Lee of Sykesville, MD, Joanne C. Benson of Landover, MD, Mary Frances Watson of Stone Mountain, GA, Agnes Claybon of Baltimore, MD; one son, John E. Claybon, Sr. of Ranson, WV; one sister, Eliza Bennett of Hagerstown, MD; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; a devoted daughter-in-law, JoAnn Claybon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD 21742, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 6, 2010.

Services will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Bell officiating.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740, following the service.
