George Fredrick Rubeck, 81, of Hagerstown MD, passed away, Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Monday, December 3, 1928, in Clear Spring, Maryland, he was the son of the late Bruce Edward Rubeck and the late Mary Jane Harnish Rubeck.

He was a graduate of Clear Spring High School graduating in 1947. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years. He later became a agent with Nationwide Insurance retiring after 20 years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Cavetown, MD, B.P.O. Elks 378, Mercersburg Moose Lodge 1790, Mercersburg VFW Post 6241, Clear Spring American Legion, Eagles Club, Inc. of Waynesboro, Redmen Tribe 84 of Williamsport, Farm Bureau and the F.R.A.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Elizabeth Crum Rubeck, two daughters, Susan D. Gustafson & husband Gerald "Gus" of Funkstown, MD, and Kathy A. Klick & husband Dennis of Hagerstown, MD; two granddaughters, Melissa I. Reichard & husband Luke of Hagerstown, MD, and Megan E. Sarber & husband Chris of Hagerstown, MD; two great-grandchildren, Konnor M. Sarber, and Tyler M. Sarber.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hildebrand, and brother Robert Rubeck.

Services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at the United Church of Christ, Cavetown Church Road, Cavetown, MD with the Rev. Carol D. Hallman officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Maryland from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 16.

Interment will be in the United Church of Christ Church Cemetery, Cavetown, Maryland.
