Smithsburg- Clyde (Bob) Richard Kendall, 86, went to be with the Lord on Sat. Feb 6, 2010, at his home.
Born Dec 29, 1923, he was the son of Clyde Jacob Kendall and Hazel Toms Kendall.
He was a decorated WWII veteran who served in the 16th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart, American Defense Service Metal, European-African, Middle-Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with six bronze stars.
Bob was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a man who showed his love for God in the way he lived each day.
He worked at Fairchild Aircraft for 14 years , and had retired as a machinist from Mack Truck in 1986.
Bob is survived by daughters, Carolyn McCartney, Shannon Jones, Lori Kendle; granddaughter, Heather M Fager; grandsons, John Fager III, Matthew Jones, Adam Jones, Jacob Ross, Eli Kendall, Zeke Wolff; great-grandchildren, Hayden Fager, Ava Fager, and Blake Jones; sister, Betty Dingle, and brothers, George Kendall and Gary Kendall.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive M. Kendall, daughter, Kathy, and infant son, David.
A service will be held on Thursday, Feb 11 at 2pm at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home ,1331 Eastern Blvd N, Hagerstown, MD. with the Rev. Jonathan Laye officiating.
Family visitation will be 1/2 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Interment will be held privately.
